Paper

 New paper stock.

Harman Gloss FB Al  320gsm.

Another paper aimed at the fiber-based style of paper, a bright white with a gloss finish which has a large colour gamut. Some reviewers suggest the printed results are the closest they have seen to traditional silver gelatin prints. I have a 610mm roll in stock, larger width can be ordered if there is sufficient interest.

Hahnemuhle Bamboo 290gsm.

Bamboo 290 – made from 90% bamboo fibres and 10% cotton – combines image printing with
environmental friendliness. This natural warm-toned and OBA free genuine art paper offers maximum
aging resistance. It guarantees an extremely large colour gamut and a high colour density.

Lately I have been printing a lot of photographic images onto a couple of stocks designed to give a similar quality to fiber-based paper.

Ilford Galerie Gold Silk 310gsm has a slightly warm white base with a smooth silk finish which has a wide colour gamut and also prints a rich black tonal range.

Hahnemule Photo Rag Pearl 320gsm is a warm white with a satin finish which allows the rag texture to come through. With an acid-free cotton rag base and no optical brighteners in the coating this paper is one of the most stable archival papers available. This paper prints wonderfully with both colour and black and white images.

Digital Negative.

We have been working on the production of digital negatives for clients who have an image captured digitally, but would still like to print black and white in the darkroom. A digital image is supplied, inverted and a custom curve to adjust the tone is applied. Then we print a black and white negative onto film to be used for contact printing. This allows traditional wet darkroom printing of digital images onto fiber-based paper and other stocks. Initial results have been impressive.
